Aberdare - Cwmbach circular 18 January 2025

Our lovely nine mile walk from DareValley country park started with sixteen lucky Merthyr Valley Ramblers (including welcome guests Jan Randall and Diane). In cold weather, we made our way through the Gadlys to Aberdare park, across the bypass and through Robertstown to the disused Merthyr-Aberdare railway where tea was taken. We then headed towards Abernant, picking up good friends Ugo, Lina and Elaine on the way. We then turned off the track by Crichton farm, down an old tramway then picked up the canal and had lunch by the bridge. It was then across the sports field, through Aberdare town centre by the library to follow the Dare back to the park. I lost count of the number of bridges we encountered but it was quite a few! A big thanks to Jenny for a great walk and to all for the superb company!
