It was damp but very warm for the seven Merthyr Valley Ramblers (including good friend Karen) at the start of our 7.5 mile walk from the lay-by near Tal-y-Bryn today. Fleeces were discarded and raincoats put on ready for the long climb northwards up the Roman road to Allt yr Esgair where we had a refreshing cuppa and enjoyed some superb scenery, Llangorse lake on one side and the Usk on the other. Still heading northwards, we did a loop by Tymawr farm and on to the picnic area at Llangasty-Talyllyn. Sadly, the picnic area was flooded so we continued in a big loop to the road and retraced our steps to the underground (I think) reservoir where we had lunch. Under worsening conditions, we then took a different track back down to the lay-by. A big thanks to Geoff and Judith for leading us safely through the mire and to all for the great company.
