Very misty weather greeted 10 hardy ramblers (including welcome guests Jackie, Sam and new member Michael) at the car park at Heol Yr Ynys car park yesterday. We started by walking along the road to Tynewydd where we used the footpath beside the road. We then crossed the road and made our way through the Coed Y Bedw nature reserve, crossing the Nant Cwmllwydrew and generally heading west. By now, the sun had burnt through the mist and blue skies and bright sunshine were at the fore. At the road, we headed northeast where we caught the Taff Ely Ridgeway walk and had our first cuppa. Suitably refreshed, we continued on, heading for our next target, the trig point on Garth Hill and the obligatory group photo. It was then north to Garth Fawr where we headed east to Lan Farm. Mud and water had always been in evidence but now it reared its ugly head big time! Mud glorious mud and paddy fields were the order of the day as we headed south but feet remained dry (and muddy) and spirits remained high as we splashed our way forward. Civilisation then loomed as we met the road and walked to the park at Taffs Well for lunch, an amazing place that I'd never visited before. Well (lol) lunched, we made our way via path and road past the new metro yard and to the start. A superb walk thanks to John for great leadership and to all for the wonderful company.
