Another rather chilly start to our walk today with some of the usual suspects and visitors Ros, Chris and Eifion. So the 11 of us started the long but not too taxing ascent, through the forest, to Mynydd Gewillion. Having climbed for 2.5miles it was time for a coffee break with a view. Refreshed we set off, downhill this time towards and past Ty Draw farm. Leaving the road we encountered the first of our trip hazards brambles surrounded the stile - soon removed with the trusty secateurs. Across the fields to our next challenge a stile followed by a water jump all stayed dry and we sped on to the wobbly stile, which we skillfully dewobbled. It was now time to start climbing again up to Mynydd y Glyn, with the promise of the lunch stop in the foothills of the not so mighty mountain, we reached the ridge for a lunch with a view and some shelter from the biting wind. After lunch it was the last of stile challenges, this one had gone awol, so we climbed the fence instead. It was now all downhill and very downhill as we descended the old coal tips. As we descended we had some great views of the mining communities clustered on the hillside. Then it was a brisk walk along the Rhondda river back to the start.
