It was a cold and misty start to this morning's 8 mile walk around Pontsticill today. The 14 hardy ramblers (including welcome guest Jane) started from the bus terminus down the road to the dam and checked the overflow, which was now dry. We then worked our way alongside the reservoir, noting all the tree damage that the storms had caused. We then crossed the railway at the railway crossing and headed up to Cwm y Gorlan where, in slowly clearing weather, we followed the path around and headed back down Cwm Callan. After a quick cuppa at Dolygaer, we crossed the bridge between the dams and picked up another forestry track where we crossed the Nant Car Fach using the wooden bridge. Fallen trees proved to be no obstacle to the group as we made our way alongside track and road back to the bus stop. We then had a wonderful pre-booked meal in The Red Cow Pontsticil, a perfect end to a perfect walk thanks to the great company and additional walk leaders Maureen and Katherine.
