The outer edge of Quakers yard greeted fifteen hardy ramblers (including welcome guests Linda and Martin) at the start of our 7.5 mile walk today. Ably led by Peter, we headed NW along Pentwyn road then we turned west along the footpath. We then zig-zagged down to the Abercynon roundabout where we crossed the Nelson exit. A short climb took us through the old cemetery at the end of which, we climbed up to the old railway line where we had a cuppa. We continued on the track-bed up to the road where we turned south past the disused quarry, turned east past Berth-gron and picked up the Rhymney valley ridgeway walk heading north. This took us through Nelson where we stopped at the play-park for lunch. We then continued east and crossed then followed the railway and then picked up the road, crossing fields and through Quakers yard back to the start. A great winter walk, well led and with great company. Thanks all.
