Ten friends old and new gathered together in Brynmawr’s museum car park ready for today's Merthyr Valley Ramblers 7.5 mile walking historical trails ramble . Although it was “damping”, rain wasn't forecast until the afternoon and so it proved to be - and not too cold either. Heading out from the suburbs of Brynmawr, we crossed over the A465 using the new footbridge, crossed over Nant Melyn then turned north and climbed steadily to the trig point at Twr Pen-cyrn where we had our first cuppa. We then turned east along the flatlands and tramways to meet up with our old friends the lonely shepherd and his dog where we shared lunch. It was then southward down to the road and past the donkeys at Ty-Yn-y-coed where we turned west along track and road back to the start. Exceptional views and a great crowd made Rob and Morfydd's walk perfect - thank you all.
