Despite the cold and damping weather, six lucky ramblers (including welcome visitor Sam) turned up for Sharon’s inaugural walk and what a walk! We started the 6 1/2 mile ramble by walking along park road and crossing the railway to continue up cemetery road. We then did a tour around the immaculate cemetery before the climb up past Pontcynon to the Nant Y Fedw where we had a cuppa. It was then onward in worsening weather past Gilfach ‘rhydd to the trig point at Pen y Foel where pictures taken, after which we found a place in the forest for luncheon. We then made our way steadily down through Carnetown, and Abercynon to arrive back to the start. Many thanks to Sharon for leading so well and stepping in at the last minute with a cracking walk and to all for the great company.
