Led by Lynne & Martina, a group of 15 spirited walkers, including our welcome guests Matt, Georgie, Jean, and Izzie, embarked on a journey from the enchanting Castle Coch. As we left the castle behind, we ventured north, ascending through the verdant Forest Fawr, where the whimsical Three Bears Sculpture and the echoes of an old iron mine's past paused us in awe. Our path intertwined with the Cambrian Way, guiding us towards the serene Castell Heights Golf Course. A delightful detour through Bwlch-y-Cwm led us to a teabreak nestled among the wild garlic's fragrance. The once muddy trails had graciously dried, granting us a smoother trek to the summit of Caerphilly Common. Atop, we were greeted by a breathtaking 360° panorama, a feast for the eyes, with views stretching to the coast and the majestic Caerphilly Castle and even the distant Pen-y-Fan. We paid homage at the memorial of Sergeant Pilot Ivan Raymond Trafford, a poignant reminder of history's depth. The descent brought new sights as we rejoined the Taff Trail and made our way back to Forest Fawr.
