Fan y big, 13 June 2026
Bright sunshine and a stiff breeze greeted the 13 valiant Merthyr Valley Ramblers as we started off on our 9 mile walk from the Pont Cwmyfedwen car park. Coats and fleeces were soon removed however as our 380m climb continued first along the Taff Trail then the Cambrian way. After a rest and a cuppa, we picked up the Beacons way for a while then turning west to Fan Y Big and the diving board. Lunch was taken followed by the obligatory photos, then it was a long steep at first drop down past the disused Upper Neuadd reservoir and back to the start. Superb walk, superb company all expertly led by Martina, it doesn’t get much better!
