A lovely warm morning greeted the 9 lucky Merthyr Valley Ramblers (including welcome guests Afon, Lisa and Trudy) at the start of our 9 1/2 mile walk today. We steadily made our way southwards, passing tank factory and statue, trees and stream to our first stop at the viewpoint overlooking Aberfan. We then carried on to the remains of the Edwardsville viaducts where more tea and coffee was consumed then onwards under the Taff vale viaduct and criss-crossing the Taff to Quakers yard. Lunch was taken in the oasis that is Gary's garden (thanks Gary!) listening to the birds and watching the squirrels while getting ready for the last leg. Our arrival at Abercynon station exactly matched the arrival of the Merthyr bound train and we gratefully hopped aboard, doing in 20 mins what had taken us five hours to do. A big thanks to all for making the walk so enjoyable.
