Today, the Merthyr Valley Ramblers had a great walk around Caerphilly mountain. Despite the cold weather, 23 walkers (including welcome guests Alan,June, Linda, Babs, Anne and Claire plus 6 dogs) started our 8 mile walk from Van road car park. We started by heading Eastwards through Coed Parc-y-fan and Rudry common where we headed south to Cefn-on and the Rhymney valley ridgeway walk. After stopping for a cuppa by the disused quarry, we headed West to the Black Cock pub where we had lunch. It was then up to the trig point on Caerphilly common, past the Caerphilly mountain snack bar and northeast back to the carpark. Great views, great company, a great walk thanks to Peter.
