Despite the chill westerly breeze, 15 lucky ramblers (including welcome visitors Karen, John and newest Merthyr Valley Ramblers member Elaine) met in bright sunshine and blue skies at the start of our 9 1/4mile walk in Trefil today. Also waiting at Trefil was the annual memorial trip to the bomber site organised by Tredegar council. We set off up the road at a good pace passing the duke’s table and swung round by the woods to have our first cuppa. It was then through the quarried road and more tracks, finally going cross-country to the bomber memorial. We held a simple service there and laid a wreath (donated by Maureen), then had lunch. Despite the magnificent views and still bright sunshine, it was too cold to hang around so we made our back the same way to Trefil. A marvellous walk led by Morfedd and Rob, magnificent views of Pen Y Fan and the sugarloaf and great company which was the icing on the cake. And to cap it all, it poured down on the way home!! Thanks all!
