Mortimer joint walk, 6 June 2026

Today, despite the poor weather, the Mortimer ramblers group welcomed Merthyr Valley Ramblers and Ross on Wye members onto their walk from Kington. We first headed northeast through Barton then at Rushock farm, turned west through Pawpits farm, picked up the Mortimer trail and had a cuppa on Offa’s dyke. Refreshed, we continued North, zig zagged across little Brampton scar to the church by Knill farm where we lunched. Whilst we were there, I had the privilege to see the grave of one of the DamBusters, Douglas Rigg. It was then west to Lower Harpton farm to circle around Herrock Hill and pick up Offa’s dyke path again ready to cross Rushock hill. We headed due South past the highest golf club in England and Back to Kington. A superb walk, expertly led by Helen with her able assistants and with both great and knowledgeable company.
