Bright sunshine and blue skies greeted eighteen lucky Merthyr Valley Ramblers which started their 5 1/2 mile walk from Pontsticill dam today. We walked alongside the east border of the reservoir to Dolygaer, crossed the dividing bridge between the two reservoirs and had a cuppa at the entrance to the forestry. We then made our way to the wooden bridge where we decorated the Christmas tree with bird treats. Further on, we came across a couple of trees that had fallen across the path. Thanks to a post on the Pontsticill Facebook page, we knew about them and had brought along a woodsaw which soon cut a path through the branches. Then, it was on to the Red The Red Cow Pontsticil for a fine meal and a warm by a real log fire. Lovely company made this a special walk - thanks all!
