A lovely 7 mile ramble around Skirrid in The Black Mountains on a beautiful sunny day. Only Rob and Morfydd could start a walk with 14 ramblers and end up with 24!! Well done Morfydd and you weren't even on commission for persuading them to visit Llanvihangel Court The walk took us across the A465; it was a clear stretch of road, and we were able to cross easily. We took the narrow road past Llanvihangel Court, which we viewed on our return; it was a very old manor house still occupied today. We walked through the beautiful county of Monmouthshire, through fields and pasture land. There was a slight incline on the first part of the walk up to a lane that ran under the Skirrid. The walk took us down through fields and a wooded area that had a stream and two pretty bridges. We were in the heart of the Black Mountains, and the views were really lovely. The walk was clearly marked in the usual way. There were only two stiles; the rest had been replaced by gates. When we returned to the village, refreshments were enjoyed in the oldest pub in Wales, the Skirrid.
