Walk to Craig y Ciliau, Llangattock, 18 October 2025

From Crickhowell 12 of us including visitors Sue and Ros, who have joined us in the past, headed through Llangattock and then followed the route of a former tramroad before ascending a rough, narrow path alongside the Nant Onneu stream below the Llangattock Escarpment. The path then leveled out as we continue along the valley floor to the Craig y Ciliau Nature reserve and the Waun Ddu raised bog. The views on a sunny day are spectacular with Table Mountain and the Skirrid visible in the distance, today not so good due to the low cloud. The route then crossed the road and we descended through fields, canal and woodland back to the start point. Thankfully the rain stayed away and it brightened up a little after lunch. To end a lovely walk half of us visited the Antur Brewery in Crickhowell and enjoyed a refreshing pint. (couldn't refuse a few take outs also !)
